Eric Smith

Eric Smith is a strategic leader with nearly 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and a proven track record of delivery and success. His career has spanned investment banking, asset management, asset owner operations, and operations at global custodians. Prior to launching See the Gray Consulting LLC, Eric held leadership positions at some of the industry’s leading players, including:

• Guggenheim Partners

• Harris Associates (home of the Oakmark Funds)

• ProShare Advisors LLC

• Apollo Global Management ISG (formerly Athene Asset Management)

• DoubleLine Group LP

• Cascade Asset Management Company

As an industry expert in Investment Operations, Eric has led all operations functions from pre-trade compliance and trade support through pricing, security master and data management, and reporting. He has also led operational due diligence, transformation projects, operating model assessments and implementations, and enterprise risk efforts.

Eric has led and collaborated on large-scale technology assessments and implementations, business process optimizations, and automation efforts. Eric has been instrumental in the successful attainment, retention, and support of service organizations’ clean SOC1 reports at several organizations. In 2024, Eric had the pleasure of successfully leading Cascade through the industry’s T+1 acceleration of the settlement cycle.
